We believe that an important part of our spiritual growth is in supportive learning
communities, or small groups. As a church grows larger, our need to care for
others and to be cared for does not diminish, therefore, small groups become even
more important to our spiritual formation.
Check out our News & Events section for more information on the latest small-group
opportunities.
United Methodist Church LeMars has an active United Methodist Women organization.
Their purpose is to know God and experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ,
to develop a creative supportive fellowship, and to expand the concepts of missions through
participation in the global ministries of the church. All women are invited to
participate in any of the activities.
There are four unit meetings during the year; Prayer & Self Denial, Summer Retreat,
Mission Dinner and program, and Christmas event.
There are three study and action groups called circles:
- Priscilla Circle meets the second Thursday evening of the month in the home of one of the women.
- Peace Circle meets the second Wednesday of the month at 9:30 AM in the fellowship room.
- Esther Circle meets the second Thursday of the month at 1:30 PM in the fellowship room.
Another women’s group is the Friendship Group.
They meet at 8:45 AM on the 4th Sunday of the month.
Here at the United Methodist Church of Le Mars we believe that we
are all equal and viable to God's kingdom, however, we are not the
same. Men and women are different and that is to be celebrated.
Not to stereotype however, women, for the most part, get into
shopping, shoes, pedicures, and highlighting their hair. Well, at
men's breakfast on the first Saturday of every month, we are not at
all going to talk about those things, unless Steve decides to get his
toes done - we, as men, really think he needs to get the palm trees with
the... uh never mind.
Anyway, gathering with a group of men to laugh, have a MANLY
breakfast, celebrate our victories for the month, and share some of our
male perspectives about the world is what you can expect. Don't
worry, we have solved only 56% of the world's problems so that means
there is still 44% left to work on. That 44% is more than open for
you to help with. So come at 8:00 AM on the first Saturday of every month
and see men celebrating what it is to be men - not against women, just
into guy stuff.
The book of Genesis tells us that God made us male and female,
equal but different. As men, we celebrate that God made us both in
God's image one for the other - even if we are not in to pedicures and
highlights. Hey, we hope to see you there and no need to RSVP. We're a
bunch of men we don't even know what that means.
