There are numerous opportunities to make a difference at church. Listed below are just a few.
Contact Us for more infomation or to volunteer for
any of these.
Ushers assist in making the worship service a pleasurable experience for the congregation
by being responsible for such tasks as opening the sanctuary, seating people,
distributing bulletins, and collecting the offering.
We want everyone to feel at home as the arive for worship services.
This why the role of a greeter is so important. They welcome members and visitors
alike upon ariving at church.
Liturgists assist with worship services by leading the congregation
in the call to worship, the unison prayer, and the prayer of dedication.
Communion is served on the first Sunday of the month. Assistants
help prepare and serve communion.

Fellowship hosts promote Christian fellowship by serving food and beverages
after the early and late services on Sunday morning.
The video equipment operator is responsible for operating the computer, DVD player,
and video projector to project images on the screen at the front of the sanctuary
during worship services.
The audio equipment operator is responsible for operating the sound board during
the worship services, making sure everybody can hear, no mater what part of the sanctuary
they are sitting.
We have youth programs for children of all ages. All of which would not be
posible without adults to lead these programs.

Even though there are only two full-time, appointed pastors here at
UMCL there are several ministers. UMCL has several people that have,
for one reason or another, become disconnected from the week to week
activity of the church. Many are known in this capacity as shut-ins.
There is a definite need for ministers in this area of our
congregation. How can you help?
Visiting
Once a month the WeCare team meets and assigns to teams of
two people the names of shut-ins to visit. The visit time is set down
by each team so that schedules are not conflicted. The recepient of
the visit is grateful and the visitors find fulfillment in providing a
much needed and grateful service to the shut-ins and community of Le
Mars.
Worship Service CDs
If a shut-in requests an audio copy of the worship service
the WeCare team is the group to deliver it (more than likely with
their next visit). Many shut-ins have expressed interest in hearing
the recorded service and the WeCare team is their link.
Pew Pad Follow Up
There are a few steps that are still in process before this
ministry can be unveiled. Through our church software we can track
those who have been coming and then for four or more weeks have
stopped coming. This is not to police attendance but to be aware if
someone has dropped out of regular meetings. Our goal is to find out
if everything is okay and if they need a visit or some help. WeCare
is our name and WeHope all of UMCL's members and visitors know WeCare.
careRING
Many people are not as prone to accepting a visit due to
health as some. There may be several reasons not to welcome a visit
and the WeCare team wants to be sensitive to that. However, WeBelieve
that everyone should have some connection with their church. The
careRING ministry offers a phone call once a week at the same time to
a shut in. THe call is to talk and make the connection in other
creative ways. WeHope that many will look forward to their weekly
careRING on the phone.
The WeCare team is available for non-member shut-ins as
well. If you have a loved one or friend in mind that needs a little
personal care and connection then WeCare. If you would like to
develop your own ministry skills to the shut-ins of Le Mars and its
surrounding area please contact us at jason@lemarsmethodist.com or
mike@lemarsmethodist.com.
WeMinister because WeCare.
